Radio

Creating radio content has changed a bit through my career. When I was on Breakfast at MMM Brisbane it used to be all tape and carts and CDs. I worked with a steady stream of on-air partners over 5 years including Gibson and Duckworth, Shirley Strachan, Mark Irvine, Bogart Torelli, both Chris and Rob Elliot, Bill Healy and Tony Gordon.

At 4BC I got the fantastic opportunity to work in Talkback Radio. Producing and announcing on weekend breakfast with Kevin Turner and Murray Shoring, we created a weekend magazine style show that was filled with fun and energy. As a result of working with Jerry Coleby-Williams and Noel Burdette, two gardening specialists from that show, we continued to podcast  the Queensland Gardening Hour.

Three and a half years as the producer on the legendary Laurel, Gary & Mark show on 4KQ was a great chance to hone my producing skills while delving into the music history and artists from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. Tracking down old rockers really is good fun. While at Australian Radio Network I was the regular on-air fill-in on breakfast at both 97.3 and 4KQ.

Working as a producer at ABC Radio Brisbane is a dream come true. Technology moves ahead and it is really an honour to engage with the people and systems at the National Broadcaster to create compelling local content.

The game now is about creating digital content and sharing it across many platforms including broadcast. Bringing my producing and announcing skills together, I have created my podcast “Kindness & Other Stuff”. But what hasn’t changed about radio is the fantastic chance to connect with the listener using my mind, voice and heart. There, so now you know; I love making radio.
